2026 changes to watch
Minimum wage rates that moved — or are scheduled to move — during 2026:
- Florida: rises from $14.00 to $15.00 on September 30, 2026.
- Alaska: rose from $13.00 to $14.00 on July 1, 2026 (scheduled to reach $15.00 on July 1, 2027).
- Oregon: rates adjusted July 1, 2026 — $16.80 Portland metro / $15.55 standard / $14.55 nonurban counties.
- Washington, D.C.: rose to $18.40 on July 1, 2026 — currently the highest in the nation.
- Michigan: rose to $13.73 on February 21, 2026 under the state’s phased schedule.
